Arcs Vision Statement

History

Was set up in 1993 as an initiative, seeking to address the difficulties and problems individuals were facing that somehow remained unresolved despite the passing of time.

Pneumatological Setting

Arcs seeks to help individuals through problems and to help them build healthy support networks from which significant friendships can grow and provide the ongoing nurture necessary for healing and wholeness (spirit, soul & body).

Arcs seeks to be salt and light in the community and believes that the values found within the teaching of Jesus, when known, understood, believed and lived; all leads to the most effective and healthy living.  Therefore, Arcs has something worthwhile to offer individuals regardless of their own background and beliefs in finding an effective way forward through problems they face.

Community Setting

Arcs accepts that all people have values and a world view that influences thinking and behaviour with whom they are in relationship.

Arcs simply seeks to be forth right in acknowledging this.  However, within counselling practice, it is accepted that this is not the appropriate ground for proselytisation.

Arcs holds to the code of ethics and good practice set out by the association of Christian counsellors (A National accrediting body for counsellors).

Arcs seeks to be influencers in the training arena and believes that a world view,
based on the teachings of Jesus, has something of value to offer others outside  of church culture.  A model of counselling that by a in large is ignored within most current training promoters / colleges / universities.  Arcs seeks to be a voice in this area and to actively redress the present imbalance

Arcs also seeks to make this model of counselling understandable to those outside of church culture by minimising the use of jargon by adequate explanation of terms used within Christian circles.
